Some of us are creatures of habit, while others love to ride the waves of the latest trends. But when it comes to your social media marketing, you need to be doing the latter.
The internet is just about the fastest-moving world that humankind has ever created, so when you're using social media as one of your key marketing tools, you need to be moving just as fast.
If you think you have your social media marketing covered with the same, good old methods for managing your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, think again. It's time to race into what's happening right now - because last week is gone and next week will be something else entirely.
1. Live streaming
Right now, it's no longer just about photos and videos - expert marketers are doing it live. Live video streaming on platforms like Facebook Live, Snapchat, Periscope and Instagram is powerful because it connects your brand to those tuning in in real time. And the really good news is that, while a little preparation is a good idea, the live aspect means that those watching will be forgiven for the odd mistake or quality lapse.
2. Social slideshows
Another trend of the minute is social slideshow ads, which are being used across a range of social media platforms. A great example is Facebook's offering, where advertisers can easily create engaging and popular video-like ads with multiple images by adding audio and text.
3. More mediums
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and even the ever-trendy Snapchat - you're going to have to go deeper than that. Social media is exploding, so if you're not using Reddit, or you've never even heard of Medium and Inbound, it's time to get up to date.
4. Instagram Stories
Just got on board with Snapchat's cool 'Stories' feature, where your 'Snaps' are visible to all of your followers? Well, it's time to get on board with Instagram's brand new similar feature, where you can add a 'Story' feature at the top of the feed. It means those who check you out on Instagram can easily see what you've been up to over the last 24 hours.
5. Chat
Social media users love live chat, such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Slack and Snapchat. But just because it's basically one-on-one doesn't mean you can't use it to engage with your audience and your customers in a more personal way.
